Description

The Healing, Incarceration, & Policing program at the Center for Victims became active in November of 2021, and has focused heavily on policy advocacy within Minnesota and at the federal level. With its creation, CVT joins the limited list of human rights organizations in the world, that prioritize stopping human rights violations caused by policing and punishment in the US.

In this workshop we’ll be detailing the first year of CVT’s HIP program, and our attempts to change the narrative concerning international human rights law, and how global systems interact with the US government, BIOPC, and liberation in the US. Participants will get to practice framing public safety advocacy through a human rights lens, and leave with a script they can use to advocate for policy changes.
