This workshop will provide each participant the opportunity to explore their knowledge around the recent Juneteenth federal holiday.  Participants will learn how the federal holiday came to be, the diversity in how each state recognizes the holiday, the importance of people knowing the real truth about the end of slavery in the US and what is ahead.  Minnesota is becoming one of the states that have taken the lead in keeping the holiday in the community and for the community.  During this session participants will discuss the history of Juneteenth, learn how to dispel the misnomers of Juneteenth and how to individually engage in future Juneteenth planning efforts.  Participants will gain new insights, new facts and receive an update from the National Juneteenth Council.
