My name is Karen Sofia Delgado-Villanueva (she/her). I am the daughter of two hard working Mexican immigrants. I am a first generation college student at the University of Minnesota. I am entering my third year, double majoring in political science and global studies with a focus on Latin America and human rights and a leadership minor. At the university I work as a peer advisor for the College of Libral Arts President's Emerging Scholars Program. As well as I am Co-President for Mi Gente Latinx which is the Latinx student organization on campus. Growing up and navigating my intersectional identity was difficult because I was not represented within my community. I grew up and PWI’s and this made it challenging to love all the beautiful aspects that make up me. Stepping into my identity and learning to appreciate all my differences allowed me to step into myself and become the strong women of color I am today.
