Originally from Bloomington, Minnesota, Genesis Maravilla Fernandez is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Majoring in global studies with minors in sociology and chicano & latino studies. Genesis is a Reverend Doctor, Martin Luther King Jr, advising program peer advisor and also a member of the MLK advisory board. She hopes to pursue a masters degree upon graduation. She is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion along with advocating for underrepresented communities. Genesis aspires to have a career within the human rights and public policy field. Outside of academics, Genesis enjoys spending time in her community, reading, traveling and being with loved ones.
