Native to Northeast Wisconsin, Abigail Vela (she/they) is a second-year student at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities studying English Literature and Political Science and minoring in Spanish. She is a peer advisor in the College of Liberal Arts’ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advising Program. In this position, she works with students, helping them navigate their academic careers with a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice lens. Outside of academics, Abigail is also a musician in her band, Party Foul, and a writer for the U of M student-run magazine, The Wake, writing about anything from events in the Twin Cities to op-eds and music reviews. She is currently recording her band’s debut EP and writing her first novel.
