“Gwiiwizens” Ricky W. DeFoe was born on June 14th, 1959 in Cloquet, Mn. Graduated from Flandreau Indian Boarding School, Flandreau South Dakota in May of 1976. Served in U.S. Army National Guard. Recently retired Union Journeyman Ironworker. Currently works with Nagaajiwanaang, a.k.a. Fond du Lac Ojibwe Language Program to revitalize language and culture in Indigenous communities. Pipe Carrier and Sweat Lodge Keeper. Twenty plus years of sobriety. Firm believer in healing power of “Mino-bimaadizi”.
