Growing up, I was always drawn to the Black American spiritual "Walk with Me, Lord". The poignant last line, "While I'm on this tedious journey, I want Jesus to walk with me," resonated with me deeply. Although rooted in spiritual and faith contexts, the core message of the song holds valuable lessons on how to be a co-conspirator. In this workshop, I aim to explore historical examples, such as the planning of the March on Washington and the work of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, as people working together to fight for racial justice. Through these examples, we will examine how individuals leveraged their gifts, abilities, influence, and privilege to effect change. During this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to identify the spheres of their own influence and unique gifts, providing a roadmap to engage in anti-racism work meaningfully. And, as we create a safe space, we will encourage individuals to share the unique ways they are becoming involved in tackling racial injustices.
