Description

Community Engagement for Equitable Systems Change (CE4Equity) is a collaborative of organizations committed to working at the intersections of racial equity, community engagement and systems change. You can learn more about our work at: https://www.equitablesystems.org/

Systems that have continuously caused harm to BIPOC communities are unprepared and ill-equipped to welcome and implement community-driven solutions. Community members experiencing inequities are best equipped to influence systems transformation. They are, however, seldom included or invited to the decision-making tables.

The Community Engagement for Equitable Systems Change Collaborative developed a set of tools and frameworks tested by experienced change agents that support creating real shifts that meet community needs.

The tools we’ve created support change agents inside and outside of systems to:

-- Critically examine patterns, practices, behaviors, and norms - frameworks that equip them to name the contributors to inequity: individualism, othering, competition, etc.
-- Foster practices rooted in reciprocity, solidarity, reflection, and collaboration – frameworks aimed at shifting mindsets, navigating power dynamics, and facilitating change efforts.

In our session, we will provide participants an opportunity to engage with these practitioner-focused tools, reflecting on how the tools might support them in their racial equity efforts. Through interactive facilitation strategies such as pair and share, small group discussion, and large group conversation participants will learn from one another’s wisdom and experience while exploring the possible applications of the tools.
