Description
Cherokee Park United Church is a church grounded in the West Side community of St. Paul. We seek to work in partnership with those around us to create a thriving urban neighborhood where all are respected and valued. We have a longstanding commitment to both internal and external antiracism work, to the human rights of immigrants, and to the full belonging of the LGBTQ+ community. We are committed to environmental and economic justice. We honor the wisdom of our elders, and we fully expect that exuberant children will always disrupt the order of things. We recognize that each person who comes through our door changes who we are as church. We offer theological elbow room, and believe that God is too big to be contained by any one religion. We provide the various means for all to grow in their connection to each other, themselves, and to God.
Our vision statement is: "Fierce justice. Radical love. Abundant grace." We challenge ourselves to live out this vision through engaged social justice work as an expression of our faith. We envision a world free of all chains of oppression that stem from human brokenness. We embrace radical love for all in the face of divisiveness and fear. And we trust in the Creator's abundant grace to sustain and guide us in our work.
