Fulfilling her father’s legacy to bring justice to marginalized communities after his tragic, untimely death, author Kate Towle was the winner of the St. Paul Foundation’s Facing Race Idea Challenge in 2011. She writes in the textbook Talking About Race: Alleviating the Fear (2013) about groundbreaking work she did with students in the Twin Cities area. As an author, community weaver, and educator, Kate works with individuals and organizations to address racial equity, leadership development, and best practices for engaging community in the challenges of our times. She has served on the steering committee of Minneapolis One Read, is a member of the Peace & Social Justice Writers at The Loft Literary Center, and a lead organizer for Sweet Potato Comfort Pie®. Her novel about friendship, race and thresholds, Sweet Burden of Crossing will be released in the fall of 2020.
