A Program Manager at Conflict Resolution Center, Sharon Roberson Sund is a Mediator, Facilitator, Conflict Coach, Circle Holder, Restorative Justice Facilitator, Educator, and Caring Economy Advocate. She is nationally recognized as a leading community organizer for her work in helping bring affordable health care to many and is also a Legislative Liaison advocating for building a Multiracial Democracy and a Caring Economy.
Sharon’s work includes facilitating community discussions for the Minnesota Office of Dispute Resolution along with the Hamline Mitchell Law School to address areas of conflict, including police department use of force against Philando Castile; controversy over the St. Paul Public Schools’ Superintendent, display of artwork at the MN State Capital, and the St. Paul $15 per hour minimum wage community discussions. She facilitates mediations and restorative justice interventions in cases involving marginalized and underserved youth in schools and in the community. She has been involved in community building circles in middle and high schools, in the community, and for small groups and also facilitates racial healing community conversations and community building circles as an independent consultant. She has also worked as a Chemist, a financial planner, and a disability advocate.
Sharon draws from her personal experience growing up in Germany and from there moving to Biloxi Mississippi where she became the first Black student to integrate an all-White school. She then moved to the all-Black inner city of Memphis where she recalls the beauty and the caring of Black people and Black culture people. She experienced living in Memphis during the riots following Martin Luther King’s assassination. After graduating high school, she moved to Minnesota and became the first Black woman to graduate from Macalester College with degrees in Chemistry and Biology.
