Many good-intentioned volunteers support disenfranchised communities of color without understanding the harmful effects of the white savior complex. In this session, listen and learn to adopt an antiracist framework and an inclusive practice with the community in your volunteer program and service.

MAVA's research produces this workshop to create an antiracist framework using eight strategies for inclusive volunteer programs. Individuals attending this session will engage in small and large group discussions and activities, including roleplaying volunteer scenarios, brainstorming new approaches to work in an antiracism framework and developing new ideas for creating an inclusive volunteering practice and volunteer program. We will also host a Q & A component to resolve the current challenges of implementing an antiracist framework and inclusive approach.
