Description
More than 550,000 Minnesotans make their homes in Ramsey County. Located in the heart of the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area, it is the second-most populous county in Minnesota with about 10% of the state’s residents. Ramsey County was established on October 27, 1849, one of the original counties of the Minnesota Territory. In addition:
● RC is the most racially/ethnically diverse county in the state. Statewide 16% of people are of color or indigenous, compared to 32% of Ramsey County. In Hennepin that number is 26%.
● RC has the largest immigrant and refugee communities in the state.
Statewide 8% of people are foreign born compared to 15% of Ramsey County
Saint Paul Public School students speak more than 130 languages at home and 34% are English Language Learners.
