Elona Street-Stewart, Delaware Nanticoke, lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is Synod Executive of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies, a region of Presbyterian churches in 6 Midwest states. Elona has served over 40 years at all levels of denominational and interfaith work, focused on racial justice and community empowerment. She has been elected to numerous Minnesota boards and Indigenous community organizations, including 12 years on the Board of Education of Saint Paul Public Schools and multiple terms on the MN Council of Churches. An Upward Bound student from Philadelphia and an Occidental College graduate, she received the 2018 Alumna Seal Award from Occidental College for Professional Excellence-Service to Community. Macalester College conferred an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters for Elona in June 2021. Currently, Elona is vice president of the Minnesota Council of Churches and beginning a term on the Board of Directors of Macalester College.
