Speaker Bio
Anne Ketz is the Director of Real Estate Development for Urban Homeworks, a North Minneapolis based non-profit organization whose mission is “to lead the fight for housing justice so that all people have a safe, stable, and dignified place to live.” At Urban Homeworks, Anne oversees and helps to manage all new real estate related activities from strategic planning to prospecting and partnership development, to directing management of active rental and homeownership projects, to working with and providing
mentorship to emerging BIPOC community developers, to contributing to housing policy initiatives. Urban Homeworks’ goal in their housing development work is to eliminate ownership disparities between white and BIPOC households and to support community ownership where it has been historically denied. Anne has been with Urban Homeworks since 2017 and prior to that took a winding path that led to real estate and housing justice, starting as a young member of the MN Air National Guard working full-time and traveling internationally, which led to a Bachelors degree in Global Studies from the University of MN, while working for an industrial construction company, then to a Masters degree in Historic Preservation from the University of Maryland, which led to working in real estate and community development back in MN and eventually affordable housing development and housing justice.
