Description

We can help students hone critical analysis skills for their present and future, by using photographs from the past. In this session, we will analyze historical images of Native Americans, with a focus on photograph curation, context, and the perspectives of both the photographer and the indigenous people featured. Using culturally relevant pedagogy as a lens, we will model an activity, discuss student engagement, and dig into the stories behind yesterday's staged images.

Teachers will receive access to Google Slides (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1v5mOa5CN65hmTCIndtgsNdm1vdidz5SY887oSgGJjcs/view), which will include links to all resources and materials. The annotation activity features an extension that accesses students' lived experiences.
