Yixiu Chen (she/her) is an Equity and Inclusion Education Specialist within the Office of Equity and Inclusion at DHS. The goal of the Office of Equity and Inclusion is to reduce inequities by addressing broad social, economic, and political factors that result in systemic disadvantages, as well as address and support the needs, assets, and challenges of communities experiencing inequities​. This goal supports our shared vision to infuse equity and antiracism ideology and practice into all DHS work and culture, so all employees feel included and experience a sense of belonging.

Her background is in educational program management, youth work and community engagement in both the non-profit and in education sector. She is passionate about public service, equity, and somatic healing practices. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her sons and husband exploring new parks, whipping up new dishes and spending time outdoors.
