This interactive workshop will provide insight into the historical and persistent nature of racial equity backlash, provide actionable strategies to address backlash, as well as tips to have impactful conversations on this challenging and potentially overwhelming topic. There is a centuries old pattern of backlash against gains by the Black community; understanding how this pattern informs current backlash efforts is key to informing the future. Equally important to understanding the pattern is understanding of the impacts to movements and individual activists. Interactive components of the workshop include an opportunity to role-play a conversation with someone against racial equity efforts, and group-solution concerns about addressing current backlash.
