Leslee has been involved in environmental justice at COPAL for nearly two years. In her position as an organizer, she has helped plan and facilitate 30+ community events, information sessions, webinars, and conferences related to environmental justice for the Latinx community and beyond. She is currently on the steering committee for a bill aiming to push polluting facilities out of BIPOC low-income communities through cumulative impacts assessments. In her work, Leslee hopes to elevate and address the rights of climate migrants once they have been displaced from their original homes because of climate change and are now seeking refuge in Minnesota, ensuring the same corporations are not continuing their harm in these communities even after relocation. Leslee graduated from Bethel University with a degree in Environmental Studies and is aiming to pursue Environmental Law in the near future.
