Abby Sunde is a first generation descendent from the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and is also of Scandinavian-American/European-American descent. She is a 2D visual artist based in the Twin Cities. She is also currently a student at Normandale Community College, with plans to start an MFA in Art program next fall. Her previous DEI work includes serving on Ramsey County’s Equity Action Circle committee and also serving as a Board member for Literacy Minnesota as their DEI Governance Committee chair.
As an individual who has struggled with identity, she hopes to support the development of spaces that encourage self-exploration and healing through understanding our own identities. With her friend, Cydnee, she is currently supporting the creation of such a space through the project Check Other. In her work and personal life, she is motivated through the values of community building and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She believes that if we include these values as a core part of decision making, we can work towards healing in our communities.
